Ensuring, Protecting & Healing

Sexual Abuse & Domestic Assault Services

The Women’s Center

– For over 40 years, The Women’s Center has remained Waukesha County’s only agency of its kind, providing women, children, and men impacted by domestic abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, and trafficking with a safe place to heal and build a future free from violence. The organization provides a plethora of services, such as emergency shelter, support groups, workshops, parenting support, legal advocacy, transitional living, domestic violence and abuse support, employment counseling services, and violence prevention and education. In 2019, The Women’s Center served 17,566 survivors, remaining true to their philosophy of ensuring that the needs of survivors are met, that children are protected, and that families heal.

Your Giving in Action!

The need for organizations and programs like The Women’s Center has continued to increase during the pandemic, as individuals experiencing abuse are at home with their abuser for longer periods of time, more often. The Women’s Center continues to provide emergency shelter and 24-hour hotline access for those who need a safe place to turn to. In an effort to provide additional support and expand their reach, the center created a podcast, Wednesday Workshop Podcast, which offers helpful insight for survivors, service providers, and community members alike.

Quotes from shelter residents:

“The facility and their services have been more of a help to me during the most difficult time of my life than I can say. I’m deeply grateful.”
